"I deleted a file on my computer over a year ago, but recently had a desperate need for it. Well, luckily, I have an external hard drive on which I keep old backups of my entire computer. I plug it in and for whatever odd reason, it started making a loud noise, and I couldn't access it from the computer - it's like it wouldn't recognize it anymore. But it was absolutely crucial that I get that one file back. It felt a little ridiculous calling a data recovery company for one file - I heard of them recovering entier hard drives and things like that, but I just needed one itsy bitsy (but highly important) file, and I was ready to pay everything I got for it, so i went ahead and called Silicon Valley Data Services. I explain to them what I wanted and to my amazement, they said they could retrieve just that file for me if I wanted, and they would charge an apropriate amount for it, which is very little considering it's one file. I didn't want to pay for the rest, so I took just the one. I guess the moral of the story is that Silicon Valley Data Services is awesome because they let me do what I want instead of charging me for what I do not want. Keep being awesome!"

"Because our server overheated and died, costing us nearly half a million dollars. More importantly, two months' worth of data appeared to be lost. We tried swapping the hard drive with a working server in another lab, but it could not read it, which was no surprise considering that a good chunk of the drive actually visibly melted and the sticker on it was blackened as if it had burned. To make matters even worse, it would be impossible to recalculate the lost data because we're in a distributed environment, and we would need corresponding data from the other machines from months ago, and we would need to re-simulate the exact conditions that had occurred in the course of the operation at that time. It was a desperate time for us. We were ready to shut down our part of the network - we could not afford to operate given our funding and the sheer amount of data that was lost. We decided to take our last chance and call Silicon Valley Data Recovery. They ran some diagnostics, and to our bewilderment, they said they could recover the nearly three terabytes of data from the burned drive - critical data that we thought we had lost forever! This was great news for us - though we were still out one server, California Data Services had saved our lab from having to shut down! We were very pleased with the service we had received. They treated us with respect and gave us the distinct impression that they were highly capable, as well as honest and caring. It felt as though they knew and understood what we were going through, and how critical this operation was to us. They kept us constantly informed about the proceedings, and provided us with support even after the fact. They also gave us a discount because we are an educational facility.
